Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) essential oil benefits
Geranium is a wonderful oil for skincare (mature skin, combination skin type). Helps to balance the effects of the fluctuations of female hormones.
It is an adrenal cortex stimulant and therefore is a hormone regulator. It is invaluable for period related problems from adolescence to menopause. Geranium also stimulates the lymphatic system and has a tonic effect on the liver and kidneys. This oil is said to lift the spirits and balance emotions and when is diffused Geranium creates a pleasant, positive atmosphere. Geranium also has nourishing, astringent, and cleansing properties recommended for supporting healthy skin, especially during adolescence (it balances sebum production).
It is a great alternative to Citronella to keep insects at bay.

HOW TO USE
To calm nerves, promote sleep burn 2-5 drops every 5 hours
Add 7-8 drops in the bath or 4-5 with a compress for period-related complaints. Very useful a few days before the period is due to limit PMS symptoms.
For cold sores, herpes simplex – apply every 5 hours 1 drop directly to the affected area. Continue for 2 days. (this is one of the very few exceptions acceptable for neat application of essential oils). Can cause headache and sneezing to migraine sufferers.
