Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus ) essential oil benefits

Lemongrass is the perfect stimulant essential oil to fight exhaustion and burnout. Is used in aches and pains preparations especially post arduous exercise because it helps to drain lactic acid and to boost circulation. Great for oily or acne-prone skin. The fresh scent of Lemongrass oil is uplifting, energizing, and restorative. Very suitable for overtired muscle, sports injuries sprains, and general muscle pain, it is also very used as an insect repellent and as a deodorant. It is a very good oil for concentration, and it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which assists recovery from illness. It is also quite useful to promote healthy digestion. Lemongrass is used in blends anti-cellulite as it helps to restore the skin tone by tightening the elastin of the epidermis. Thanks to its astringent properties, it is used in skincare to control acne and oily skin. Lemongrass flexuous is more indicated for blends for muscle-related injuries and has more a balsamic aroma, while Lemongrass citratus has a zestier scent and is widely used in perfumery and skincare.

Always use Lemongrass after skin patch test and in low dilutions as it can be a skin irritant.

Botanical Name: Cymbopogon citratus 

Method of Extraction: Cold pressing of the rind

Color: Golden yellow to amber

Aroma:  heavy, lemony, green

Yield: 1 % to 2.5%

Blends well with:  Basil, bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, clary sage, coriander, cypress, fennel, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, marjoram, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, vetiver, ylang ylang

Therapeutic properties: Analgesic, antidepressant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiparasitic, antiseptic, antiviral, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, deodorant, digestive, febrifuge, fungicidal, insecticidal, nervine, sedative, tonic

HOW TO USE

 
As a refreshing room deodorizer and keep insects at bay burn or diffuse 3-4 drops.



To 2-3 drops blended every 5 ml of carrier oil for an effective sports massage blend, to promote healthy digestion and to improve fluid retention and skin tone.

 
Can be a skin irritant – please skin patch test. It is safest not to use Lemongrass if suffering from estrogen-dependent cancer (topical application). Not suitable during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and children (up to 6 years old).
