Sheet Mask VS Cream Masks - pros and cons

Posted by Daniela Pelonara on

Masking is a great way to complete your skincare routine and to boost your skin with antioxidants and nutrients. Whether it’s a sheet mask, cream mask, or clay mask, masking on a weekly base is not only good for your skin but it can be your zen moment away from your busy schedule.

Without a doubt, you have seen or even tried yourself sheet masks and/or cream masks. What are your thoughts?

Are you a sheet mask lover or do you prefer the traditional rinse-off cream mask?

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the two most popular types, sheet masks, and cream masks.

1) WHICH MASK TYPE HAS THE BEST ACTIVE INGREDIENTS ABSORPTION?

Sheet masks lock the active ingredients onto the sheet and the absorption is quite good

Cream masks may absorb actives slightly less because the water content of the product may evaporate faster.

2) WHICH MASK TYPE HAS THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF PRODUCT FOR YOUR SKIN CONDITION?

Sheet masks have a fixed amount of active ingredients, so impossible to adjust to your skin condition

Cream masks can be easily adjusted while applying on the skin

3) WHICH IS THE BEST COST EFFICIENT MASK TYPE?

Sheet masks cost up to 3 times the same amount compared to a single application of  a cream mask

Cream masks can be purchased in different sizes and stretch your beauty budget even further

4) WHICH MASK TYPE IS TRULY ECO- FRIENDLY?

Sheet masks, even if made with natural cellulose or cotton, are single-use products + they are wrapped in non-recyclable plastic pouches

Cream masks can be bottled in glass or easy-to-recycle plastic containers + can be used multiple times

5) DO MASKS WORK BETTER THAN CREAM MASK AS THEY HAVE MORE ACTIVES?

Sheet masks typically have 2 to 3 active ingredients - the rest is water and preservatives. Sheet masks tend not to have any lipid or fatty acids

Cream mask tend to have a variety of more active ingredients, including clays, and can combine water and oil actives for a complete skin treatment

6) ME TIME - SHEET MASK OR SERUM?

Sheet mask oh yes!

Cream mask oh yes!
